Getting Started

YouTube Text Tools is a Chrome extension that transforms your YouTube watching experience. After installing the extension, you'll see an onboarding page that helps you pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access.

Once installed, simply navigate to any YouTube video and you'll see a new panel with the transcript on the right side of the video. Click any timestamp to jump to that moment!

📌 Pin the Extension

For quick access to YouTube Text Tools, we recommend pinning it to your browser toolbar:

  • 1️⃣ Click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) in your browser toolbar
  • 2️⃣ Find "YouTube Text Tools" in the list
  • 3️⃣ Click the pin icon (📌) to pin it

After installing the extension, navigate to any YouTube video. The transcript panel will automatically appear on the right side of the video player. If you don't see it, try refreshing the page or clicking the extension icon in your browser toolbar.
Currently, YouTube Text Tools is only available as a Chrome browser extension for desktop computers. Mobile browser extensions have limited functionality, but we're exploring mobile solutions for the future.
The extension works with any YouTube video that has captions or transcripts available. If a video doesn't have captions, the transcript feature won't be available. Most popular videos have auto-generated or manual captions.
No. YouTube Text Tools does not collect, store, or share any of your personal information or browsing data. All processing happens locally in your browser. We respect your privacy completely.
Click on the settings icon (gear icon) in the transcript panel. You'll find options to adjust the font size, enable/disable auto-scrolling, and toggle paragraph numbers. Your preferences will be saved for future videos.
YouTube Text Tools supports all languages that YouTube provides captions for - over 100 languages! If a video has captions in multiple languages, you can switch between them using the language selector in the transcript panel.
